NSW Health Review of mental health care in Emergency Departments

12 September 2024

The NSW Ministry of Health is reviewing mental health care in NSW Emergency Departments and has engaged ARTD Consultants to help with this work.

ARTD Consultants is planning to hold 2 online focus groups this month – one for mental health consumers and one for mental health carers. Each focus group will take 1.5 hours and include up to 6 participants. Participants will be paid for their time.

Participants in the focus groups must:

  • have lived experience of presenting to a NSW Emergency Department for a mental health concern, or
  • have lived experience of supporting a loved one who has presented to a NSW Emergency Department for a mental health concern, and
  • have experience as a consumer or carer advocate
  • be over 18years old
  • have email and reliable internet access

The focus groups discussion will explore things like: your arrival experience at the ED, your experiences and relationships with staff, any outcomes you experienced (e.g. were you connected to the care you needed) and suggestions to improve the experience for others in a similar situation.

If you are interested and have the relevant experience, read more about the opportunity and how to apply in the information sheet via the link below.

Applications close September 20th 2024.
