In May and June 2023, we invited members of the community to review the draft model of care for our Mental Health Emergency Consultation Service (MHECS).

Thank you to those who so generously gave their time to review and provide feedback on the model of care.

We heard from people with their own lived experience and with experience supporting another person accessing MHECS. Those who shared their feedback told us that they liked the purpose and principles of care for the service.

They shared their experience of challenges, such as waiting times in Emergency Departments and provision of information.

We received some questions in the feedback for parts of the model of care which needs more clarification, and we will try and address those questions more clearly in the revised version.

Overall, the feedback received on the model of care was positive, with people agreeing with the plan for delivery of the service.

It was helpful for us to hear both opinions on the model of care, as well as challenges and positive experiences of accessing MHECS. All of the feedback will be considered in the revised version of the document.
