Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Statement describes how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you interact with MHDA Experiences.

Privacy and using this site
MHDA Experiences is owned and operated by Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate using software licensed from Social Pinpoint Pty Ltd (ACN 164 471 425). The site aims to connect with people who have lived experience of mental health, drug or alcohol issues to gather input and experiences to help improve the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services provided by Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
MLHD Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate takes the privacy of those using this site very seriously. We adhere to the privacy standards outlined by NSW Health.
This privacy statement applies to the MHDA Experiences website specifically and provides details on how MLHD Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate collects and protects your personal information as part of your use of this site. This privacy statement does not apply to any other aspects of your interactions with Murrumbidgee Local Health District (e.g. receiving a health service).
The personal information gathered through your interaction with MHDA Experiences is only for the purpose of your participation in this site and the consultations listed. Your information and activities on the site are not recorded in your healthcare record.

By providing personal information and/or continuing to use MHDA Experiences you consent to your personal information being collected, used and disclosed in accordance with this Privacy Statement and you also agree to MHDA Experiences Terms of Use and Moderation and Community Guidelines.
How is your privacy protected?
An individual's right to privacy as established under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 is respected and protected by Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD).
MLHD does not allow the publication of information that may identify individuals, or might potentially identify them. Any statistical data about the use and management of MLHD facilities, services or projects, and the health of the population are made available on this website in the interest of the public.
Links to external (non-MLHD) sites are sometimes included in information for the convenience of site users, but MLHD does not have any responsibility for the privacy practices of third party sites.
NSW Health Privacy Policies
NSW Health observes the information privacy principles set out in The Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 when collecting and dealing with any personal information.
NSW Health has a Privacy Management Plan which identifies how all NSW Health agencies comply with the Privacy Act. NSW Health's policy document on information privacy is the Privacy Manual for Health Information.
What information do we collect?
We collect information about you and your use of MHDA Experiences. The type of information we collect will vary depending on how you interact with the service. We will only collect personal information if it is necessary to carry out the functions of MHDA Experiences. We will always take reasonable steps to collect your personal information directly from you and provide you with options about what information you share.
Site visitor data
MHDA Experiences collects information for statistical and system administration purposes. This includes:
- Your server (or IP) address
- The day and time you visited this site
- The pages that you access within MHDA Experiences including how long you spend on each
- Your route through MHDA Experiences (the sequence of pages and other content that you visit)
- The operating system you are using
- Any documents, images or videos that you download from the service
- Your rough geographic location
- The language of your browser
- Your internet service provider
- The type of browser and version you are using.
MLHD will not attempt to identify individuals from the records the server automatically generates unless necessary to investigate a breach of law or regulation.
Cookies
Cookies are used on our site, but they do not collect any personal information. For the most part they are sessional and just contain system-generated values to identify the user's session for statistical and system administration purposes only.
We collect the data and information through a combination of Google Analytics, server logs and tools within the functionality of the site, using data security protocols.
Registration
Users can choose to register for MHDA Experiences to receive updates on projects you have contributed to or are interested in, as well as notifications of other opportunities you may want to take part in. Some consultations require you to be registered in order to take part.
To register you need to provide:
- Username (visible to others when you make comment or post on project pages)
- Password
- Email address
Optional registration information includes:
- Demographic information (age, location).
- Information about your experience of Mental Health, Drug or Alcohol services.
- Topics about which you have indicated an interest in being consulted or informed.
- Contact preferences and subscription to other (optional) communications from us.
If you are a registered user, we may, in addition to the above data and depending on the nature of the consultation, request or collect the following information:
- Full name, gender, post code, address, email address and age bracket.
- Username and password for MHDA Experiences.
- Topics about which you have indicated an interest in being consulted or informed.
Email addresses provided to this site will only be used to respond to enquiries or provide updates relating to your participation and specified interest areas and will not be added to mailing lists, or disclosed to any other party without the user's consent, unless required to do so by law.
Participating in a consultation
Consultations on MHDA Experiences are conducted by staff from MLHD Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services and supported by the MHDA Coordinator Consumer Participation Strategy. They use tools provided by the service (e.g. surveys, comments, polls) to collect feedback and experiences.
We collect information that you provide via the MHDA Experiences feedback tools. This may include:
- comments and votes in forums
- stories
- surveys
- interactive maps
- quick polls
- ideas and suggestions
- images
Correspondence
Any feedback or correspondence that you send to us via the MHDA Experiences site, email, text or phone conversation will be stored in a secure area within our message services system in accordance with The Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.
Moderation
To protect the safety of the community and ensure that the site is a safe space for all participants, comments submitted to the site are moderated by Social Pinpoint and the site administrators from MLHD, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol. Content deemed to be inappropriate or offensive will be removed in line with our Moderation and Community Guidelines.
How will we use your information?
We use the personal information about you to:
- administer the site and manage your account
- identify when you sign into your account
- send you updates and information, but only when you have agreed to us sending you this information or when the information is necessary to assist with the administration of the site
- respond to queries that you have contacted us about
- attribute content that you post on the site to you
- analyse use of the site to inform ongoing improvements and enhancements
- inform policy decisions, service delivery or project development by the MLHD, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate
- for any other purposes that we indicate to you when we request your personal information.
User feedback
The information you provide through the feedback tools will be collated and provided to the MLHD team overseeing the project for the purposes of decision-making and development of the service or project. You will not be identified as part of this report, unless we advise otherwise. You will be identified if you are applying to be part of a committee or workshop and it is necessary for the team to contact you to discuss your application.
Reports from consultations may also include de-identified quotes from participants in forums, surveys and other consultation tools.
Each consultation will provide you with the following information:
- The project that you are contributing to.
- Who is leading the project and their contact information.
- How you can take part and provide your input.
- What will happen to the information or feedback you provide.
- Important dates and stages of the project
What information is publicly available?
Not all of the information that you provide to us can be viewed by other users of MHDA Experiences.
Publicly available information
Publicly available information is limited to your username (selected by you) and any comments you leave under that name in the forums or other feedback tools on MHDA Experiences. We recommend that you protect your privacy by selecting a username which does not identify you and that you do not include personal identifying information (e.g. real name, location) in your comments.
Reports of collated responses and statistics from consultations may be made publicly available or shared with third parties (e.g. contractors assisting with project development or relevant stakeholders). Any comments submitted by you included in the report will be de-identified. Statistics and collated feedback will not include any identifying information.
Information available to both MLHD and Social Pinpoint Pty Ltd includes:
- all information from the sign-up form
- comments, questions, stories, guestbook posts
- survey responses, quick poll responses, map pins
- general site activity such as document downloads, videos viewed, images viewed etc.
- information on the technology used to access the site.
Hidden information
We will not disclose to other users of the service:
- your password for MHDA Experiences
- any personal information provided by you in the course of consultations that you do not expressly provide permission to disclose
- correspondence that you send to us using MHDA Experiences contact information
- information that you submit to specific consultations within MHDA Experiences.
Storing and disclosing personal information
Personal information will be kept in safe custody, sufficient to prevent unauthorised access, and will be properly handled to ensure its safety, integrity and confidentiality. Circumstances in which MLHD may be required to disclose this information to a law enforcement agency include:
- Unauthorised tampering or interference with files published on MHDA Experiences;
- Unauthorised attempts to access files which are not published on MHDA Experiences;
- Attempts to intercept messages of other users of MHDA Experiences;
- Communications which are defamatory, abusive, vilify individuals or give rise to a suspicion that an offence is being committed;
- Attempts to otherwise compromise the security of the web server or breach the laws of the State of NSW or the Commonwealth of Australia.
Data security and destruction
Under the PDP Act, we have a responsibility to protect your personal information. We take reasonable steps to make sure that your personal information is protected from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
Further, any personal information that we collect and use for identifying user trends is aggregated and anonymised when generating reports.
To protect your own privacy, your password for MHDA Experiences should be kept confidential, and must not be displayed, shared or written down.
When will we contact you?
We may send you information and announcements from time to time by email. If you give us permission, we may also call you on the phone number provided to discuss your application or feedback.
You can choose to receive communication and other updates from us by email. If you choose this but then change your mind, you can unsubscribe at any time by following the process set out in the emails and newsletters that we send you.

Changes to our Privacy Statement
We may update the content of this Privacy Statement from time to time for any reason. The updated version of the Privacy Statement will apply to you as soon as it is posted on the website, so we suggest that you regularly review the Privacy Statement.
Terms of Use
MHDA Experiences (“the site”) is the Online Consultation platform provided by Murrumbidgee Local Health District’s Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate.
This site is owned and operated by Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate using software licensed from Social Pinpoint Pty Ltd (ACN 164 471 425). References to “We” and “Us” as used in these terms refers to site administrators from Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate and Social Pinpoint Pty Ltd.
It provides a way for people living in the Murrumbidgee region who have lived experience of mental health, drug or alcohol issues to provide input and share experiences to help improve the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services provided by Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
1. Using this site
By accessing and using this site, you are agreeing that you understand and accept these Terms of Use, which include our Privacy Statement and Moderation and Community Guidelines. Please read all the terms carefully.
If you are under 18 years old, please ensure that your parent or guardian understands and accepts these Terms of Use (including the Privacy Statement).
Who can use this site?
Everyone who has internet access and a web browser is able to visit MHDA Experiences. If you would like to participate in interactive components such as commenting or providing feedback to projects, you may need to register.
These Terms of Use apply to everyone who uses the site regardless of whether you are a registered user.
What are the conditions with a user’s account?
While using the site, you must not violate any applicable laws and regulations.
It is our duty to protect the confidentiality of personal information you provide on our site in accordance with our Privacy Statement.
When you create an account with us, you must always provide us with accurate information. Failure to provide accurate information violates the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our service.
You are responsible for protecting your own password you use for this site and for any activities done under that password. Unauthorised use of your password or account must be immediately reported to us. In some cases, we may require access to your user accounts to respond to technical issues.
We are not responsible for the content on the site that has been provided by the users of the site.
Any content posted by you is subject to the rules of our Moderation and Community Guidelines. Your contribution to the site may be edited, removed or not published if we consider it inappropriate or harmful. Contributors should also be aware that their posts may remain online indefinitely. Where practical, you may choose not to identify yourself by using a pseudonym. We encourage users to choose a username which protects their privacy.
What do we require from users of MHDA Experiences?
You must understand and agree that, without limitation:
- all information, data, images and other materials are the sole responsibility of the person from whom the content originated;
- you are prohibited from advertising or offering to sell or buy any goods and services
- you cannot transmit content that contains software viruses or programs designed to change or destroy the functionality of any computer software or hardware
- you cannot collect or store personal data about other users of the site
- you cannot impersonate any person or entity
- you cannot interrupt or interfere with the site or servers or networks connected to the site
- you cannot attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or other user accounts.
Suspension or Termination of Access
We can suspend or terminate your access to and/or account in MHDA Experiences immediately, without prior notice, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.
This may include deactivating or deleting your account and all the related files and information in your account. After your account has been terminated, the content you have posted may also remain indefinitely on the site.
Indemnification
Murrumbidgee Local Health District its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, licensors and other partners are not responsible for any loss, liability, claim, or demand, including legal fees, made by any third party due to or arising from a breach of this agreement and/or any breach of your representations and warranties set forth above.
2. Registering with MHDA Experiences
If you decide to register with MHDA Experiences, you will be asked to provide information about yourself. We will rely on the information that you provide when you register. We will assume it is accurate and current unless you tell us that it has changed. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account.
Any user thought to be providing misleading information, misrepresenting their identity or misusing the service will have their registration suspended.
How we protect and use your information is explained in our Privacy Statement.
When you register with MHDA Experiences we will ask you to choose a password. Please do not tell anyone else your password as you are responsible for all activities that occur on this service through your account.
We will use reasonable efforts to protect the confidentiality of content you provide. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to wholly protect your information from improper purposes by unauthorised third parties. You acknowledge that there are risks inherent in internet connectivity that could result in the loss of your privacy, confidential information and property.
If you believe your account has been compromised or hacked, please inform us immediately so we can take appropriate action.
Cancelling your registration
You can cancel your registration with MHDA Experiences at any time.
Content that you have posted to MHDA Experiences may remain on the service even after you have cancelled your registration and may be included in reports as part of consultation processes.
All of the terms in these Terms of Use (including the Privacy Statement) survive the cancellation of your registration.
Cancelling your subscription to MHDA Experiences communications
You can choose to receive updates from MHDA Experiences by email. If you then change your mind, you can unsubscribe at any time by following the process set out in the emails that we send you or by altering the settings in your user profile.
3. Posting content on MHDA Experiences
If you have registered with MHDA Experiences, or are taking part in an activity which is open to the public, you can post comments and upload content to the service.
It is important to us that the service is suitable and safe for everyone who is using it. There are some rules about what you can and cannot post on the site. These rules are explained in the Moderation and Community Guidelines. By agreeing to these Terms of Use you also agree to comply with the Moderation and Community Guidelines.
Some projects will display comments publicly to allow other users to interact and provide their thoughts. We suggest you select a username which protects your privacy when posting comments and feedback that is publicly visible.
If you wish to provide confidential information, please contact us to arrange an alternative way to respond.
To allow you to choose whether to take part, each consultation activity will provide you with the following information:
- The project that you are contributing to.
- Who is leading the project and their contact information.
- How you can take part and provide your input and who sees this information.
- What will happen to the information or feedback you provide.

Do we monitor the content posted on MHDA Experiences?
We monitor the content posted on MHDA Experiences on a regular basis during business hours, but it is not possible to monitor all content submitted to the service at all times. This means that from time to time you may see inappropriate content on the site before we can remove it in accordance with the Moderation and Community Guidelines.
If you wish to report content that you believe is inappropriate, or suggests the user is at risk of harm, you can do so by using the reporting function.
Although we monitor public submissions to the site, we do not assume responsibility for third-party content posted on the service. We do not make any warranties, express or implied, as to the timeliness, integrity, accuracy, appropriateness, legality, reliability or quality of the content posted on MHDA Experiences.
When will we edit and remove content from MHDA Experiences?
You understand and agree that we have ultimate editorial control over the site and may edit, remove or not publish any content from the site at any time for any reason. Without limiting this right, where we identify content that is inaccurate, offensive, inappropriate or contravenes the Community Guidelines or any other terms in these Terms of Use, we may delete the content.
If you violate these Terms of Use (including the Moderation and Community Guidelines), then we may suspend your account or ban you from using MHDA Experiences.
Who is responsible for the content posted on MHDA Experiences?
MLHD Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate will post project information and consultation activities to MHDA Experiences. This information is accurate at the time of posting however the scope, details or direction of the project, service or consultation may change at any time.
All of the content that an individual user posts to the site is their sole responsibility and reflects their own views and experiences. MLHD Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate is not responsible for the content that is posted by users to MHDA Experiences. MLHD Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol directorate does not verify the accuracy of the views or material contained in the contributions of members of the public.
What if you don’t like the content in MHDA Experiences?
If you object to any content on MHDA Experiences due to it being inaccurate, offensive, inappropriate or in breach of the Community Guidelines or any other Terms of Use, please use the reporting function or contact us.
All reports will be evaluated and if your objection is upheld the content will be hidden from public view. Please note that we reserve the exclusive right to make the final determination of what is inaccurate, inappropriate or offensive. If we do not uphold your objection, we will communicate to you why your objection was not upheld (provided that we have your valid contact information).
4. Technical Issues with MHDA Experiences
Access to MHDA Experiences relies on internet and network technologies outside of our control. We do not guarantee that you will be able to continually access the service without interruption.
We are not liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense resulting from any delay in operation or transmission, communications failure, internet access difficulties or malfunction in equipment or software. If you have difficulties accessing MHDA Experiences please contact us.
5. Intellectual Property
This website contains the copyrighted material, trademarks, patents, trade secrets and other proprietary information (“Intellectual Property”) of Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Directorate and its suppliers and licensors. Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Directorate owns and retains all proprietary rights in the intellectual property. All intellectual property in the content of this site including without limitation to text, software, source code, pages, documents and online graphics, photographs, sounds, audio, video and other interactive features are owned by or licensed to us.
Any original content that you submit or post on our site may be made available to the public and allows users to share your content (with the end user acknowledging your contribution) under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 Australian License.
Except for Intellectual Property which is in the public domain or for which you have been given written permission, you may not copy, alter, transmit, sell, distribute any of the Intellectual Property.
You confirm that you own or have the right to use any copyright material included in your content and that you are not infringing any person’s rights by submitting the content to MHDA Experiences.

These Terms shall be governed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regards to its conflict of law provisions.

We may revise these Terms of Use (including the Moderation and Community Guidelines, and Privacy Statement) at any time and with or without notifying you.
The updated Terms of Use will apply to you from the time that they are posted on MHDA Experiences. You should visit this page from time to time and review the current Terms of Use because they are binding on you.
We may modify or discontinue any information or features that form part of MHDA Experiences any time, with or without notice to you, and without liability.
