First Nations communities living in NSW invited to shape Suicide Prevention Legislation

12 September 2024

First Nations Co. are collaborating with the NSW Government to consult with First Nations communities on shaping the NSW Suicide Prevention Legislation.

Suicide Prevention Legislation establishes a whole-of-government and whole-of-community approach to suicide prevention. It aims to unite government efforts in tackling the broad risk factors associated with suicide while promoting community well-being and strengthening protections against distress. It provides a framework to prioritise suicide prevention and achieve sustained, systemic change.

First Nations Co. is hosting a series of in-person and virtual consultation sessions where you can share your voice, experiences, and suggestions. These sessions will facilitate open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that the voices of those with lived and living experience are embedded in the development of the NSW Suicide Prevention Legislation. Lived Experience participants will be compensated for their time and contributions.
